Curriculum covered this week:

Basics

Leopard Paw – Horizontal

3 Sets of 10. Alternating hands. Kiai with each strike of 3rd set.

Leopard Paw – Upper

3 Sets of 10. Alternating hands. Kiai with each strike of 3rd set.

Butting Elbow

2 Sets of 10. Alternating sides. Kiai with each strike of 2nd set.

Crab Pinch

1 Set of 10. Alternating hands. Kiai with last 2 strikes in set.

Blocking

Windmill Blocks

Windmill blocks are done by combining an Inside Palm Block and Outside Knife Hand Block.

  • Right Windmill Block
    • Right Hand Inside Palm Block followed by Left Outward Knife Hand Block (outside block moves along outside of your right forearm)
  • Left Windmill Block
    • Left Hand Inside Palm Block followed by Right Outward Knife Hand Block (outside block moves along outside of your left forearm)

Dragon Blocks

Dragon Blocks are similar to Outward Knife Hand Blocks but add a brief grab and pull with the blocking hand. The grab is typically done using the thumb and lower 3 fingers on the blocking hand; the middle finger, ring finger and little finger. The index or pointer finger is left straight. The brief pull of the block is done while holding the opponent’s wrist with the blocking hand and pulling your elbow back to a chamber position. Be sure to keep the elbow close to your body.
